What I have learned about Speedo Swimwear

Knowing I would be swimming most days this summer, in a pool, I immediately though I needed a women's Speedo swimsuit. Except they are one piece usually, and I have an inverted triangle shape... Know to be chlorine resistant and even chlorine proof in some styles!

Knowing that I am a woman with a full figure, inverted triangle shape, large gut and waist, who normally wears a 34HH to J size bras...well lets just say I have to assume, with near all but Fantasie large cup size swimwear, there would be a learning curve, and there was!

Swimwear for Inverted Triangle shaped women!

I found out that with the great stretch and resilience of Speedo swimwear, us full figure, and other sized, women with inverted triangle figures might be able to wear a one piece. Without, as I do, wearing a swim skirt over its 'hangs away from me' bottoms!

I knew from reading about Speedo at Always for Me, they are missy sized, yet one can compensate...Click on this women's Speedo swimsuit's picture below to read what Always for Me recommends for sizing, and its reviews by other full figure women.

Always for Me carries this swimsuit for $62 in sizes 16 - 24. It is very much like the styles Speedo's own site recommends in Women's Plus Size. Speedo's plus sizes run 20 to 24, yet in clearance Speedo has sizes up to 40 and 28L.

Always for Me is cheaper to star with, in the similar to recommended plus sizes, yet Speedo has their Clearance section, and discounts I will post to the right here.

accustomed as I am to buying bra sized swimwear, I was thrilled to find this, and other Speedo styles on sale at Figleaves for a fraction of their normal prices, in what seemed like bra band sizes to me.

Naturally I ordered it in by band size 34...Still I was perplexed that no bust support was mentioned, but for a fraction of the price, and a nice price and the cleavage sun protection neckline... ( it zips up the back), I gave it a go!

I found two things:

No bust support is mentioned because it has none
Speedo has lots of stretch and reslilience.

It fit me, up to my under bust, then the zipper can not reach, and fit my daughter, a slender 10 year old, perfectly.

Here is the difference between our measurements, in inches

Me: bust 45, waist 36, gut 43, (that is a measurement I would love all apparel to have), hips 41

Daughter: bust 30, waist 27, hips 31

In fact she has been wearing it since Sunday. I did not even stretch it out trying it on!

Why Speedo could be the Swimwear for Inverted Triangle shapes!

Then, last week, desperate for rash guards for us, and goggles for her, we went to our local Sports Authority. They actually carry women's Speedo in both size styles and a wide size range!

Likewise, at Sports Authority I found women's Speedo with seemly bra band sizing and no bust support. I also found swimwear sized Speedo! These styles have a very secure self bra for bust support! And I tried on both a size 18 and 20

Now a according to Speedo's size charts these in inches would be

18: bust 42.5, waist 33.5, hips 45

20: bust 44.5, waist 35.5, hips 47

Results: Both bust were varying degrees of tight, waist, looked good considering I am larger at the waist than either of these two sizes.

Best news, for us Inverted Triangle Shaped women: even with a 4 to 6 hip difference, mine being a full 4 to 6 inches smaller than either Speedo size:

The bottoms did not hang away from me! These swimsuits actually fit my torso and backside!

Now when do us inverted triangle shaped women ever get that from one piece bathing suits? And to think it was there all along!
